It’s safe to say that maternity photography in Perth has really taken off over the last decade. It wasn’t so long ago that many expecting mothers were more self-conscious about their figure than anything else. But fortunately, societal norms are shifting, and today’s mothers are proud to show off the changes their bodies are going through – so proud, in fact, that they’re eager to show it off and even document it to look back on in the future.
At Onesies & Co, we couldn’t be happier that pregnant mothers in Perth are eager to capture these precious moments in the early development of their newest family member. That’s why we have created special maternity photoshoot packages for our clients in Perth.
A lot goes into staging the perfect photo shoot. Many of the details are worked out by the photographer, but there are several important issues that Mum and Dad should keep in mind as well. In this post, we’re going to explore those issues. Here are four tips to remember for the perfect maternity photo shoot in Perth:
- Time Your Photo Shoot So That Your Belly Is Big, but Not Too Uncomfortable
This is probably the single most important consideration to keep in mind. You want Mum’s belly to be round and noticeable enough to really capture the magic of pregnancy. At the same time, you don’t want to wait until it’s so large that posing or even staying on your feet through the shoot is uncomfortable. Every pregnancy is different, but a good guideline is to aim for about 30 weeks into the pregnancy.
- Don’t Wear Maternity Clothes into the Shoot
As we mentioned above, sensibilities are changing. Maternity clothes are generally designed for comfort or even to subtly conceal the extent of the pregnancy. For the photo shoot, plan on wearing clothes that are tight and stretchy, as these will look beautiful and help to accentuate Mum’s pregnant figure.
- Try to Choose Timeless Styles for the Apparel
Following on from the previous post, it’s wise not to wear anything that’s too up-to-the-minute in terms of fashion trends. You want these photos to look great in another 20 or 30 years, so it’s a good idea to choose something more timeless. Solid, neutral colours are a good idea.
- Think about Poses
This is something that your photographer will coach you through, but it’s always a good idea to spend some time thinking about the types of poses you prefer. We favour poses that appear natural or even candid. To that end, we’ll work with you to develop some beautiful poses during the shoot, but we’ll also keep the shutter clicking between poses as well.
