Ideas to Keep in Mind for Newborn Photography in Perth

There’s nothing quite as exciting as welcoming a new family member into this world. There are so many new and exciting firsts to prepare for – from the first smile to that first contagious giggle, from baby’s first steps to the first ‘I love you’. During those first two years with the new baby, major milestones come every few weeks and months. Indeed, it can be difficult to keep up.
The fact that so much changes so quickly in the life of a newborn can be a bit overwhelming for Mum and Dad. Life flies by in a blur at this stage, and it’s easy to feel like it’s all getting away from you. This is why many of our clients are so eager to record those earliest few weeks and months with professional baby photography in Perth.

At Onesies & Co, we’re delighted that we’re able to play a role in recording these precious memories in the lives of families. And given the ongoing professional learning and the number of photo shoots that we’ve overseen in Perth over the 8 years, we’re uniquely qualified to offer new parents advice on how to prepare for their baby photo shoot.

Here are a few tips that we routinely share with our clients:

Consider What Style You Prefer

There are many different styles of newborn photography that are currently trending, some of which are more timeless than others. The style of photography that you choose will affect the types of props you incorporate, as well as what everyone involved in the photoshoot wears. Contact us ahead of your baby’s shoot to discuss styles.

Book Your Baby’s Photo Shoot before She’s Born

For baby photography in Perth, we generally aim to take the photographs within the first two to three weeks after birth. In order to accomplish this, it’s best to begin making arrangements well in advance. We understand that there’s no such thing as a fixed date when it comes to planning for childbirth, and our approach allows us to be flexible as long as we have plenty of lead-in time to prepare.

Consider the Benefits of Studio versus Home Photography

For certain styles of newborn photography, it’s best the parents and baby come into the studio, where everything is carefully prepared with a new family in ind, a large selection of props is available and the lighting can be carefully controlled. However, this isn’t always possible – and there are certainly families who would prefer not to take the baby out of the house so soon after birth. Take a moment to decide how you feel about this, and communicate that to your photographer. We are flexible to accommodate your needs.

Prepare to Be Impressed

You may have done some research and been  surprised by how lengthy these newborn photo sessions can be, waiting for baby to fall asleep to get some of those adorable poses, timeouts for feedings, changings and other routine tasks. Unlike most newborn photographers in Perth we have our own unique workflow to allow for a much quicker turn around, no more than 2 hours from start to finish. Best of all you won’t have to wait a few weeks to see your final baby photos. Your viewing appointment is scheduled within 7 days. It’s all part of the fun!

If you’re looking forward to bringing a new bundle of joy into the world, contact Onesies & Co to reserve a baby photographer in Perth.
